Elite soccer game will affect parking, traffic June 10

Plan for delays before and after the 8:30 p.m. Mexico-Turkey match at Kenan Stadium.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ will once again welcome elite international soccer to Kenan Stadium when the national teams from . The match is part of the , just days before the start of the .

Here’s what to know about how the game will impact traffic around campus.

Employee parking

Normal daytime parking operations will be in effect for employees from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Employee Game Day Parking is reserved for employees reporting directly to work after 5 p.m. and not attending the match.

Spaces are available in lots throughout campus for working employees who have valid campus parking permits or University/hospital IDs.

Lots reserved for match operations require permit holders/parkers to relocate vehicles by 5 p.m. Vehicles left in these lots after 5 p.m. will be relocated at the owner’s expense.

Student parking

Resident students parking in resident student lots will not need to relocate for the event. Resident permit holders living in campus housing entering assigned resident parking areas during match operations must present their valid UNC One Card at entry for scanning.

Traffic

Due to the anticipated high volume of vehicles for the soccer match, plan for traffic delays and follow the suggested directions of travel. Match traffic is expected to be heavy from 4-8 p.m. and 10-11:30 p.m.

To reduce campus traffic:

  • Consider planning travel routes in advance and using the route suggestions provided for the pre-purchased permit locations.
  • Be aware of campus roads that are restricted to manage traffic and stadium access before and after games. Only emergency vehicles, buses and permit holders are allowed access.
  • Park and ride is a viable alternative for those who choose to pre-purchase boarding passes, helping to avoid campus traffic congestion.
  • Follow traffic signs and directions of traffic and parking personnel.
